Scope of AM4GR

The aim of AM4GR is to support and prepare the Greek market for the arrival of Additive Manufacturing (AM) / 3D- Printing Technology, which is changing the face of the industry worldwide by eliminating the traditional production models to the benefit of businesses, societies & individuals. To this end, AM4GR aims to create an Additive Manufacturing platform in Greece and provide access to a global network. The AM platform shall create awareness about this new technology by creating a community of members that will offer trainings, share examples of best practices, bring cooperating companies together, etc. This Initiative will enable participating companies to gain a competitive advantage and create opportunities for this new community (or technology). Revolution of 3D Manufacturing

Unlike traditional manufacturing – which involves techniques which start with an amount of raw material and then remove some of that by drilling, milling, sanding and so on – 3D printing makes things by building them layer-by-layer. That is why it is also known as additive manufacture. It uses digital designs to make items in 3D printing machines that use one of a range of techniques (layers of molten plastic, melting of high-grade metal powders with lasers, solidifying layers in a vat of liquid polymers). This means that 3D printers can make different designs of an item just as easily as making one, with no need for retooling.

Benefits of 3D printing are:

Producing of several “lots of one”, that is, sets of items which each have a unique design

It can make items with complex designs that simply cannot be made using traditional manufacturing techniques, allowing designs to be optimised to, for example, reduce weight while increasing strength

Items which previously needed to be assembled, thereby lengthening the production cycle time and increasing the complexity of the supply chain, can be fabricated in fewer parts or even as a single item

Much faster than traditional manufacturing, as it is quicker to set to work and retool

Let’s Build Something Together

  • Create a one-stop advance manufacturing and 3D Printing Greek eco-system to provide guidance, know-how, information transfer and support for companies embarking on their digital transformation journeys.
  • Bridge the chasm between research & development and industrial manufacturing, by bringing together partners in the advance manufacturing ecosystem to demystify digital transformation.
  • Open-up new markets and increase competitiveness.
